Beck is an experienced clinician (qualified social worker) and Trauma Sensitive Yoga facilitator who is passionate about helping people reconnect with their strengths and build meaningful, fulfilling lives. She takes a holistic, person-centred approach that recognises the connection between our minds, bodies, relationships, and environments, and believes that growth and change happens through safety, connection, and genuine human relationships.
Beck’s interest in mental health, wellbeing, and human behaviour grew from a curiosity about how our minds and bodies respond to life’s challenges, and how understanding these processes can help us navigate them with greater awareness and self-compassion. This curiosity continues to shape both her professional work and her ongoing learning based in Wollongong.
Over the years, Beck has supported people experiencing mental health challenges including the impacts of trauma and significant life transitions. Alongside trauma therapy, she offers Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TSY), an evidence-based, clinical intervention for complex trauma and PTSD. Developed by David Emerson and Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, TSY helps people explore greater awareness, choice, and connection with their bodies in a safe and supportive environment.
Beck is currently completing postgraduate studies in psychology and has a particular interest in trauma recovery, mental health and the integration of psychological, social, and body-based approaches to wellbeing. Beck works alongside Dr Nick Marsden to create wholistic and integrated somatic focused approaches for the recovery from trauma.
One of Beck’s greatest joys is helping people make sense of their experiences and discover new ways of understanding themselves. Outside of work, she enjoys dancing like nobody is watching, meditating and learning watercolour painting with her young daughter. She believes that movement, creativity, and meaningful relationships are important ingredients for wellbeing and a fulfilling life.
