Ruben is a warm, genuine, and thoughtful clinician who cares deeply about helping people feel understood and supported. He was drawn to working at Marsden Health because it strongly aligned with his values of compassion, creativity, and integrated care.
Ruben works collaboratively with people of all ages and believes therapy works best when it feels like a shared process. He focuses on building a strong and trusting therapeutic relationship so clients feel safe exploring their experiences and working toward their own vision of a good life.
Ruben has experience supporting people with low mood, anxiety, behavioural challenges, and other mental health concerns in the context of neurodivergence, chronic pain, trauma, and parenting. He enjoys working in experiential and collaborative ways that sometimes step outside the usual mould of therapy, regularly checking in with clients to ensure the approach feels meaningful and helpful.
His work is guided by a neuro-affirming and trauma-informed perspective, with a strong interest in approaches such as Schema Therapy and EMDR that help people understand long-standing patterns and process difficult experiences in new ways.
Ruben spent his early years in the Blue Mountains before moving to Wollongong to study psychology. After a short time living in Sydney, he found his way back to the Coal Coast, drawn by the outdoor lifestyle. When he’s not in the therapy room, you’ll likely find him swimming in the ocean, free diving, playing sport, or connecting with loved ones over a good meal.
