Integrated Care at the Kids Clinic: Helping children and adolescence thrive, together
Posted Apr 13 2025
When your child is facing challenges—whether emotional, developmental, behavioural or functional—it can be overwhelming trying to organise support across multiple services and clinics. At the Kids Clinic, we believe that caring for the whole child means bringing a team of experts together, under one roof, to support your child and family in a unified, compassionate way.
That’s what we call integrated care—and it’s the heart of what we do.
Our Approach to Care
We know that the best outcomes happen when professionals collaborate. That’s why at the Kids Clinic, we work as a team — psychologists, developmental educators, social workers, and wellness therapists—supporting each child holistically and consistently.
Integrated care:
- Makes life simpler for families (no more running around to multiple appointments)
- Ensures everyone supporting your child is on the same page
- Allows us to use consistent messaging and shared goals across all areas of care
- Helps us address both underlying needs and presenting symptoms more effectively
We tailor every plan to the unique needs of your child and family, and we adapt as those needs change over time.
How Integrated Care Works at the Kids Clinic
Every child’s journey is a little different—but here’s what you can typically expect:
- Personalised Assessment
We begin by getting to know your child—what they’re struggling with, what’s going well, and what matters most to your family. - Collaborative Team Planning
Your child’s team of clinicians will collaborate to create a plan that addresses their needs from multiple angles. - Ongoing Support & Review
Regular check-ins and progress reviews ensure we’re on track and responding to your child’s growth and development.
Our Core Care Pillars:
We bring together a range of highly skilled professionals—all working with a shared goal: to support your child’s health, wellbeing, and development.
? Psychology
Our child psychologists help uncover the reasons behind behaviours like outbursts, aggression, or sleep difficulties. They use assessments, diagnoses, and individualised strategies to support your child’s emotional world.
At Marsden Health, our psychologists are supported by ongoing training and supervision, and they work closely with families to ensure every strategy aligns with your goals.
? Developmental Education
Developmental Educators support neurodivergent children and kids with disabilities to reach their goals and thrive in everyday life. Their work is about inclusion, capacity building, and making sure each child is seen and supported as a whole person.
Our Developmental Educators collaborate with families, schools, and other service providers to ensure consistent support across environments.
? Social Work
Social Workers offer therapeutic support and practical advocacy for children and families. They work from a social justice lens, helping families access services, navigate complex systems, and build stronger wellbeing.
Whether it’s mental health support, family advocacy, or liaising with other professionals, our social workers bring both compassion and clarity to the table.
?? Wellness Therapies: Art Therapy & Yoga
Sometimes, traditional talk therapy isn’t the best fit. That’s why we offer creative and embodied therapies like:
- Art Therapy, a gentle, nonverbal way for children (especially those who struggle to communicate) to express and process complex feelings
- Yoga Therapy, a body-based practice proven to reduce stress, build resilience, and improve self-regulation
These therapies are offered in both 1:1 and small group settings and are designed to help children connect with themselves in new and empowering ways.
? Our ChAMPS team
ChAMPS is our multidisciplinary team for the assessment of complex paediatric developmental, emotional, and behavioural concerns. ChAMPS is made up of:
- Clinical Psychologist
- Neuropsychologist
- Paediatrician
- Speech Pathologist
- Occupational Therapist
- Dietician
- Social Worker
The approach is unique in that the ChAMPS team all work together on the assessment of a child in the one location on the same day. This allows for the expertise of the individual clinicians to be shared through in-person team consultation that yields more informed and accurate formulation, diagnosis, and intervention and support planning.
